As a consequence of the increasing use of glass in modern architecture, safety requirements are higher today than in the past. Kristal Maribor produces a wide range of high-quality safety glass.
SECURIT®, SECURIT®-H
Tempered Glass
This product undergoes a heat treatment which improves its resistance to thermal shocks. In addition, it becomes tougher and more flexible than standard glass. When broken, the glass shatters into many small fragments with rounded edges. It is also possible to carry out the Heat Soak Test (HST) a s a precaution against spontaneous glass breakages.
PLANIDUR® Heat-Strengthened Glass
The mechanical and thermal characteristics of this glass are better if compared with standard glass, however it does not have the peculiarities of tempered glass. When broken, it shatters into many fragments with rounded edges. To become safety glass, it must be laminated.
STADIP® Laminated Glass
Laminated glass comprises two or more sheets bonded together with an interlayer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) film, which has high impact resistance and, in case of breakage, holds the fragments together, providing further protection. PVB films can be transparent or coloured: there are many possible options available.
